Artist's Description

Another view of Bush Island, one of the LaHave group of islands on the south shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. Once a thriving fishing community since the mid-1600’s, the fishery is now largely for lobsters, with small in-shore boats venturing out into the Atlantic Ocean. Blessed with miles of sand beaches and a mild climate, the islands are also used for summer cottages, as they are all connected to each other and the mainland by a series of small bridges.
Shown here are homes, a lobster boat, wharf and fishing shed, typical of the way fishing villages were built along the shores of the small harbours.
