On the south shore of Nova Scotia, Canada, there’s a place called the LaHave Islands, a group of islands, beaches and islets, connected by small one-lane bridges, with tiny fishing communities such as this one at Bush Island. The small harbour provides a safe haven for the small in-shore fishing boats, largely used for lobster fishing out in the Atlantic Ocean. Piles of lobster traps are on the wharf at the right side of the photo. Fishing sheds and homes surround the wharf area.

Wonderful Capture George! It Looks Like my families Village; Pubnico, Nova Scotia.
    :)

  • Between Massachusetts and Austria?? There must be a story behind that..lol!
Anyway..Hi Lee! Glad you liked this one. I’m from N.S. anyway and just after we were at LaHave we kept on going all through the many Pubnicos (!) and ended up that night in Yarmouth. Love the South Shore and all the way around the end.
    Thanks for the kind comment!

What a grand wee village, George. Beautiful capture!

  • Hi Mike..this is the same place that had the shed with the “hurricane insurance” and also the tidal outhouse..they’re just out of sight to the right of the photo.
Lovely spot, and just a short way from the longest powder sand beach in N.S. Wish I was still there, I’d probably have a cottage on one of the islands.

I remember those two buildings. And you’re right – a great location for a cottage!
