Artist's Description

The Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, Canada, was built (of wood) in 1927 by the Great Northern Railway, and quickly became an icon of the Canadian West and especially the Waterton park. With it’s alpine chateau architecture it has retained the ambience of a time when the Rocky Mountain parks were really becoming known to the rest of Canada and the world.
This is the main lobby, with it’s massive timbers, second level balcony, and huge windows overlooking Upper Waterton Lake.
The Hotel is a National Historic Site of Canada.
