It’s hard to pick one scene as the introduction to Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, but if you’re traveling south on the Icefields Parkway this is one of the views that will probably catch your eye.The Rocky Mountains can’t fail to impress, no matter which peaks you’re looking at.

This photo is awesome in its beauty! It’s so amazing, isn’t it, George, to see the results of such immense power in the lifting up of these mountains. The diagonal layers of rock and sediment never cease to astound me!

  • Hi Pat, good to see you again! I agree, I always study those layers and try to imagine the forces that could raise such range after range of mountains. Wouldn’t it be great to have had a time-lapse camera running for a few million years!!

    Awesome shot George :)

  • Thank you Alyce, so glad you liked it. BTW, are you aware of the RB Meet N Greet planned for the Canmore area June 24-26? We’re trying to let everyone know that might be able to get there. Had a lot of fun last year at Waterton. If you’re interested, contact Vickie Emms as she’s probably the most organized of us..lol!

George, I swear I think you are getting ready for a visit to this park again, am I right?
Oh it can’t come soon enough for me.
This is, as always a beautiful image. Well done.

  • Well, it would be nice, but Banff is so big and I really want to get a better look at the Canmore.Kananaskis area, so I’m not sure. And we thought on the way home we might spend some time in Yoho and the Arrow Lakes area, lots of beautiful country in there. But, who knows? LOL!
