The Valley of the Ten Peaks is in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, only a few kms. from Lake Louise and even closer to Moraine Lake, two of the iconic lakes of the Rocky Mountains. Moraine Lake is actually within the Valley itself. The peaks were originally named by Samuel Allen, an early explorer of the region. All of the peaks are over 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) above sea level. The peaks clearly show the many layers of rock which were forced upwards from the shallow sea which once covered this whole area.
