Columbia Icefield and Athabaska River by

Though this picture was taken in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada, the Columbia Icefield (up ahead) straddles the border between Jasper and Banff National Park. The Athabaska River flows through the valley between the ridges of the Rocky Mountains. In almost two weeks, this was one of the few days with a perfectly clear blue sky and bright sunshine! Not that we complained, the other days provided some really dramatic sky-scapes which were very beautiful.

Now this is a beauty, George! What a marvellously rugged scene. Great stuff!!!!

  • Thanks Mike! Every time I look at these shots I wonder why I took so many years to get there! I think sometimes it would be better just to be a wanderer with some hamburgers and a!

  • It certainly is, David, I hope I can get to see some more of it before time runs out!
