There’s a song called that, and it came to mind while I was trying to get this shot without taking a very high dive off the edge. The Athabasca Rive continuing it’s flow through the Rocky Mountains approaching the Columbia Icefield. I always have a sense of wonder at the vast unspoiled forests that fill the valley and climb so far up the peaks.

The song lyrics are below the picture:

I think it was a Burl Ives song…..
Down in the valley the valley so low
Hang your head over, hear the wind blow
Hear the wind blow love, hear the wind blow
Hang your head over, hear the wind blow
Roses love sunshine, violets love dew
Angels in heaven, know i love you
If you don’t love me, love whom you please
Put your arms round me, give my heart ease
Give my heart ease love, give my heart ease
Put your arms round me, give my heart ease
Write me a letter, send it by mail
Send it in care of, the Birmingham Jail
Birmingham Jail love, Birmingham Jail
Send it in care of, the Birmingham Jail
Build me a castle, forty feet high
So I can see her, as she rides by
As she rides by love, as she rides by
So I can see her, as she rides by
Down in the valley, the valley so low
Hang your head over, hear the wind blow

Amazing scenery isn’t George. Quite humbling I find. :>)) Leslie
I felt the same way Leslie, so I was determined to get the shot if possible. The edge looked a bit crumbly so this was the best I could do..lol!

Beautiful! Wasn’t there a song about down in the valley?
Hi David..yes there was..I’ve added the lyrics to the pic. It was an old Burl Ives song as close as I can remember. Nice and clean, nothing that anyone could get polarized about..lol!
