Paddy’s Head is a point of land at the entrance to Indian Harbour, an inlet of St. Margaret’s Bay, in Nova Scotia, Canada. The Bay in turn is a very large inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse is on the end of Paddy’s Head, warning fishermen of the rocky head itself and also the rocks and reefs strewn about the small harbour. All of this is the leftover footprint of the retreating glacier from the last Ice Age, about 10,000 years ago.
