Moraine Lake is a glacial lake in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.Situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, five of which can be seen in this shot, the Lake is at the end of a road which runs up from the village of Lake Louise. One of the most interesting sights, personally, was the collection of logs and debris from fallen trees, which one usually sees on the shores of an ocean, not thousands of feet up in the midst of the Rocky Mountains.

oh my this is a lovely capture George. Our oldest has been here and loved it totally . He and his wife were extolling it’s virtues for days. We are going to have to visit it for sure! A Fave! :>)) Leslie

  • Many thanks Leslie, and also for the fave! Are you coming to the Meet N Greet in June? You could easily take a run up to Moraine and Lake Louise from Canmore. The scenery in between is even more spectacular.

Wow, that’s something I may never see for myself, thank you for sharing this!

  • Hello Vivian, and thanks for dropping by, but never say never! I first saw a picture of this place about 60 years before I actually got there in person..lol! This can be your picture to use as a goal, the mountains and the lake will still be there when you’re ready!

An amazing scene wonderfully well photographed George. There’s so much going on here, from the clouds swirling around the peaks, to the foreground logs and to the people walking around right centre. I spend quite a few minutes looking at this because the likes of it are just not here for us in Aus.
    Great stuff old mate.
    Peter

  • Hi Peter, I’m so glad you took the time to really study it,because you’re quite right..there’s a lot of little things that you don’t see in a quick glance. I’ve found so many of my pics from the mountains have that same characteristic..lots of little details that really help make up the whole. I’ve always been an ocean and seashore fanatic, like you, but the mountains have taken hold and the grip is mighty strong..lol! If all goes well, we’ll be going back around the end of June.
Keep well my friend, we’ve got some more roads to tread !!
