The Butchart Gardens at Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, are world-famous all year round, but probably the Christmas season is the one that really brings out the fantasy-land aspect. Tens of thousands of lights bring a whole different perspective. Here, at the westerly side of the Gardens, strings of lights guide visitors along pathways and under one of several archways.

First opened in 1904, The Gardens are a National Historic Site of Canada.

Beautiful, George. What a sight that must be! I hope to get up to Upper Canada Village this week and catch “Alight at Night”. All the buildings are covered in lights and it’s quite the view. Last time I was there, it was pouring down, so I didn’t want to risk the camera.

  • Hi Mike..I’ve heard about that show, and I’d love to see it too. We are trying to get back to Butchart’s this week but the forecast is not good for weather so may have to let it go. When I took these last year it wasn’t very good so I put the camera inside a big zip-lock freezer bag and cut a flap over the lens so I could flip it down. Awkward to handle the buttons so I had to preset as much as possible and take my chances. Worked quite well actually.

    Awesome capture

  • Hi dj, and many thanks for the nice comment.
BTW, I took a look at your FAA site. I’ve been considering setting up on there as well. Have you had any selling success on FAA? I don’t mean specifics, just a general opinion if setting up has been worthwhile for you. Answer by BM if you would prefer. Thanks very much.
