Another view of the largest Sitka Spruce in the rain forest near Port Renfrew, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. As with all very big and very old trees in these forests, it’s almost impossible to get a view of the whole thing from top to bottom because getting back far enough just puts one into another maze of trees and the view is pretty well gone. Perhaps the fence will help with perspective, or take a look at a previous posting to see the base area better.
It has a circumference of 11.6 metres (38 feet) and a height of 62.5 metres (205 feet).

Beauty, George! I used to love the stand of enormous Douglas Fir on the way to Port Alberni. I think they call it the MacMillan Provincial Park now.

  • You’re’s MacMillan Prov. Park, the main attraction there is Cathedral Grove, probably the name you remember.

They grow them big over there … this is beautiful George♥

  • Hi Bev, indeed they do grow big. But it’s very tricky to try to show the whole tree and have some sort of perspective on its size!

Cathedral Grove, that’s exactly the name I was trying to remember, George. Trust Mac and Blo to steal the thunder! LOL
