Looking forward on the deck of the iron ore carrier Isaac T. Mann in the North Atlantic on a voyage from Norway to Argentina in the winter of 1927

This is a little series that were taken by my Father in 1927. The ship is the Isaac T. Mann, a bulk carrier on which my Dad was an oiler in the engine room. The ship used to run from Narvik, in far northern Norway, to Buenos Aires, Argentina, usually with a cargo of iron ore, and the voyage down the length of the North Sea, and the North and South Atlantic, took several weeks. We knew he was alive because he sent a postcard from both ends of the trip, otherwise the days in between were just a mystery. (Not to me, I hadn’t been born yet!)

The photos were done with his VP Kodak using 116 film.
