Artist's Description

Sandland, on the waterfront in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, is a collection of 20 sand sculptures all made of 100% Island sand. Each one shows a different phase of life on Prince Edward Island ,Canada’s smallest province.Features include Confederation , harness racing, shipbuilding,fisheries, the famous potato farming and aspects of life in the place known as the “Garden of the Gulf”. (The entire Province is an island in the Gulf of St. Lawrence)
Sandland was conceived in 2007, when these photos were taken Sponsored by Northumberland Ferries, they were created by local craftsmen from tons of island sand mixed with water, allowed to harden, and then sculpted into amazingly detailed figures.
This image is the welcoming sign at the entrance, with the map of the Province.
