Bay St. Lawrence is a tiny fishing hamlet at the extreme northern tip of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. It has the only protected harbour on the north end of the island, with a very narrow channel allowing access to the North Atlantic ocean. You can see the entrance to the channel, with several large buildings which are devoted to processing the fishery. This was a rare day, when the ocean was very calm, and the sky perfectly clear right to the horizon.Homes are scattered along the shore and over the surrounding hills. The hamlet is connected to the outside world by a paved road which joins the Cabot Trail, the scenic highway which encircles the north part of the island and contains Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
