The Strait of Juan de Fuca divides Canada and the United States at the south end of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It’s the waterway that connects the open Pacific Ocean with the sheltered waters of Puget Sound and the Strait of Georgia, giving shipping access to Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle, among others.
This view was taken from the seaside park at Whiffen Spit, in the village of Sooke on Vancouver Island, in mid-evening. The snow-capped Olympic Mountains in Washington State still pick up the last glow of the sunset.

Wonderful capture George…..looks like a chilly eve !!

  • Hi again Sean, and thanks again! You’re right, it was a chilly evening! Only 3 days ago, we just finished a drive across the island from coast to coast through the boonies, and stopped to have a coffee on the beach at Sooke. I was bone-cold after taking a few shots, Jann stayed in the car! Smart girl!

Fabulous shot, love the sun on the snowy topped mountain, I was hoping to have been there now myself but health issues have prevented it, maybe later, Ann

  • Hi again Ann, and thank you. We had just come out of the woods at Lizard Lake and stopped at Sooke to catch the last bit of sunlight. It was COLD..lol! Sorry to hear of your problems, I have some of the same myself, so understand completely. If you get over later on, drop us a BM and we’d love to meet you and have a nice chat!

That is gorgeous. Love the sunlite tops of the mountains.

  • Thanks Wanda, much appreciated! I was hoping the light would stay until I could get to the edge of the water..just made it in time :)
