The Strait of Juan de Fuca divides Canada and the United States at the south end of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It’s the waterway that connects the open Pacific Ocean with the sheltered waters of Puget Sound and the Strait of Georgia, giving shipping access to Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle, among others.
This view was taken from the seaside park at Whiffen Spit, in the village of Sooke on Vancouver Island, in mid-evening. The snow-capped Olympic Mountains in Washington State still pick up the last glow of the sunset.
