After periods of very heavy rain in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada, we came across a string of small waterfalls running down from the slopes of Mt. Kitchener into what appeared to be a deep gorge or miniature canyon. After some experimentation trying to climb down the bank, I decided the zoom lens made a lot more sense. Mt. Kitchener is part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain ranges.

September 5, 2009, Fuji S100FS camera, 400mm. zoom.

Wow, what a shot, George! I’m glad you decided on the zoom lens, my friend!

  • Hi Pat, good to see you again:) Many thanks for your kind comment. I was glad I had the zoom lens, it would have been impossible to get there and then get back again. Getting too old for that stuff..lol!

Beautiful landscape, with an interesting perspective. And those falls are lovely.

  • Hi there..across the water from me..lol! Thanks very much for your kind words. It was just a stroke of luck to come across them, very unexpected and I doubt if they have an actual name. But yes, they were really quite lovely.

Good one, George. The drive between Bamff and Jasper would have to rate as one of the best in the world, especially in a motorhome.

  • Thanks very much Phil. I agree about the drive. I wished we’d had a motorhome, we’re not much for camping and there are very few places to bed down in between Jasper town and Lake Louise.Having a house with us would have been great !

Marvellous capture, George. What a beautiful scene!

  • It was a bit of a fluke, Mike, we had very heavy rain all the way up from the island and were afraid the trip would be a bust. But I think that’s what generated all the waterfalls we found, and added much more volume to some of them. I almost missed this one, just caught a glimpse through the trees and went for a walkabout..lol!
