A Hyundai Korean container ship has crossed the Pacific and is now in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, offshore from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The worst is over and calmer waters will be the norm until she docks in Vancouver. In the background are the Olympic Mountains of Washington State, USA.

Taken Feb. 5, 2010 with a Fuji S100FS camera with polarizing filter, lens set to approximately 350mm.

Wow George, what a beautiful shot. The mountains and clouds in the back look so cool!!

  • Hi Gail, thanks very much, I saw the clouds when I was downtown and went out to the waterfront. The ship was a bonus:)

A terrific piece of work George. All those contrasting tones combine to create a great atmosphere and your story is the icing on the cake.
    regards

  • Hi Peter! Many thanks my friend..I love ships and mountains, and the sea of course. Getting them to all come together is something I’m always striving for. It’s a real bonus when I can manage all three!
    Cheers, George

Marvellous shot, George! What beautiful colours and atmosphere here! (Too bad it was a container, not a tall ship – could you just imagine that!) :o)

  • Many thanks Mike! A tall ship would have been better but not often we get them here except for a special event. Guess you read about the Concordia..I posted a pic of her quite recently, so sad to know she’s gone, she was quite a beauty.

Yes, I had read about the Concordia. What a shame, but a blessing that all on board were saved.
