Night in the Sunken Garden (5) by

This is the fifth in a series of five images taken in the Sunken Garden at the Butchart Gardens in Victoria,British Columbia,Canada. The sunken garden was once a huge limestone pit, and when the limestone was exhausted, work began in 1904 to convert it into a beautiful garden. The small lake shown here was filled from natural springs at the bottom of the pit, and stocked with fish which would come to the surface to be fed when Mr. Butchart clapped his hands. The 55 acres of gardens are a National Historic Site of Canada, famous the world over.

Taken December 28,2009, with a Fuji S100FS camera, 4 seconds,F 2.8.ISO200, tripod.

What an absolutely marvellous series, George! All are truly wonderful. They’re like fantasy come to life. They must be amazing to see in person.

  • Hi Mike..Happy New Year!! Glad you liked this little series. It’s an amazing sight, Disney couldn’t do better. I’ll try to post more of the other areas. I think they went to all LEDs this year. Interesting to be in crowds of people who are wandering around in the dark with little maps to figure out where to go next. I became an impromptu tourist guide quite a few times:)
