Margaree Harbour is a little fishing village on the western coast of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. It’s also on the Cabot Trail, one of the most scenic drives in the world, which encircles the northern part of the Island and encloses Cape Breton Highlands National Park. An ideal place to stop awhile and enjoy the beaches, highland hills, seafood and to get to know some of the friendliest people anywhere. The water here is the Gulf of St. Lawrence, which at this point stretches all the way to Newfoundland. The granite rocks in the foreground form a seawall to protect against winter storms.

Taken September 2006, Sony DSCF828 camera.

    Absolutely beautiful, George. Beautifully done!

  • We were walking back from supper and the colours of the water and afterglow were so nice I had to go get the camera. One of those evenings you don’t want to end:)

Those granite rocks are a perfect foil for the striking colours on the horizon.

  • Hi David, and many thanks. Your comments are very much appreciated. I took a number of shots, with and without the foreground flash, but I thought showing the rocks would make a better composition. Glad you agree!
