One of the many ridges of the Rocky Mountains rises above Lake Maligne in Jasper National Park, Alberta,Canada. The untouched thick forest rises from the level of the lake, climbing the slopes of the mountains until there is nothing left to give them root.Beyond rise the cliffs and peaks which were once the bed of a shallow sea, thrust upward by tectonic forces millions of years ago. Yet these are some of the youngest mountains in the world.
