In all the Canadian Rocky Mountains,Castle Mountain has always been my favourite. Maybe because it stands somewhat aloof and towers over the surrounding forest. Most times I’ve seen it in early winter but this was a different perspective. A few minutes earlier it was in a clear sky but a sudden wall of black clouds came on the wind and covered the peaks. I hoped to get a break and suddenly the sunlight came through like a giant spotlight.
Castle Mountain is in Banff National Park, Alberta,Canada, near the southeastern end of the park.
Taken Sept. 7, 2009, Fuji S100FS camera.

This one is great George……always like how the clouds move in around this mountain. Can be very dramatic at times. Great capture !!
I can thank you for this one Sean, you suggested going down the old road and it worked out great. I waited about a half hour and have some shots in a clear sky, some like this one, and got some nice telephotos of the walls with the sunset gleaming on them. Should have stayed at the Castle Mtn. campground but it was full..lol! Ended up in Calgary..a very very long day!!

Hi Maggie, thanks very much..I wish I lived a lot closer to this mountain, it seems to gather spectacular cloud formations every time I’ve seen it. Glad you liked it:)

Hi zumi, I’m glad to know you’ve seen the mountain yourself, it’s always been one of my favourite places, at any season of the year.
