Foothills Morning by George Cousins

A bright morning on the road between Calgary and Canmore,Alberta,Canada. Do these people ever get tired of the view?? I was standing on the far western edge of the vast Canadian prairie, and behind these homes are the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, reflecting the early morning sun.

Tremendous photo of a wondrous scene George. All that land and yet the houses seem to be quite close together don’t they? Once again you have captured a wonderful sky that complements the mountain range perfectly. Regards, Peter

  • Thanks very much Peter. We were coming into the outskirts of the town of Canmore and I think those houses were on one of the newer outlying streets. Canmore is a town that’s growing by leaps and bounds because of it’s spectacular scenery and also the winter sports scene. It’s also the gateway town to Banff National Park so it’s becoming a resort town..and a very expensive one too!

I am sorry if I don’t always comment George ,I have so many people commenting and on my watchlist I don’t always have time to get through them all. I do see your work though coming into my group. Sorry if I have neglected you x

  • Oh Irene, not a problem! I feel the same way lots of times..I try to keep tabs on my watchlist as well, but it’s pretty impossible to do and at times I feel guilty too. There really is a life outside of RB, and we have to enjoy it while we!

Amazing lighting and colours, George. The blue/white of the mountains and the stark white of the houses really catches the eye. Wonderful capture!

  • Thanks Mike..we were trying to make time back to Canmore when the sun just came up and highlighted those exact items. They had the same effect on us, so we hit the brakes and the shot came out quite well.

    Good shot, George !
I really like the way you’ve managed to capture the changing landscape. Amazing how fast it changes. :)

  • Thanks’re right..we came to a very fast halt and caught the light just at the right moment, while the prairie land was still quite dark. Another few minutes would have been a different view entirely.

Hi George! Your image has been FEATURED in Communities! Congratulations and thank you for sharing your work with our Group! This is beautiful and so deserving!

  • Hi..and good morning. This was a double surprise! You were so kind to give me this Feature and you also gave one to my partner Jann on her site (Aspotogan Peninsula)! We’re both happy to know the images were worthy of the honour. Thank you so much!
