An early summer day in Beacon Hill Park, Victoria, Vancouver Island, a mecca for artists, photographers, and anyone who loves being surrounded by nature. We usually go armed with cameras, but this day Jann wanted to get back to her first love, painting, so we set up in a place of her choosing and I rambled around. On one return trip, I found this gentleman from the Philipines was quite engrossed in her progress, and I thought it made a nice scene.
The park is by far the biggest in the Victoria system, very close to downtown and easily reached by walking, bus, car, taxi, cycling, or horse-drawn carriage. It has several ponds, lots of birds and a large petting zoo for children and the adults who like to think they are!

Beautiful scene, George. It’s amazing how a working artist can draw onlookers. I really envy them their skill at capturing a scene.

  • Thanks Mike..she had a procession of onlookers that day, it’s something she has to put up with in a park :) This chap was living in Victoria but his family was still back in the Philippines so we think he was a bit lonely as well as wanting to watch her work.

This is a great shot! an artist in her element!

  • That’s my partner Jann doing the painting. The easel was fairly new and she wanted to try it out in the park so I did the photos and she painted.
