Artist's Description

The west coast of British Columbia is home to the largest and oldest coastal rain forest on earth. Some firs and cedars are at least 800 years old. In 1944, a well-known forester, H.R. MacMillan, donated 136 hectares of land bordering Cameron Lake,Vancouver Island, containing a unique group of very large and old trees, which was established as MacMillan Provincial Park three years later, and expanded in size in the Spring of 2005.
The largest Douglas Fir is over 9 metres in circumference and 76 metres high. The park is probably better known as Cathedral Grove, and to walk through the silent giants is indeed an emotional experience.
Taken in September 2009 with a Fuji S100FS camera.
