    OMG.
    This is a splendid capture.
    A beautiful ldy she is.
I have a passion for the old ships.

  • Thanks for a lovely comment Brandie1, it’s much appreciated! We have the same passion, I have always loved any kind of ship, but the old sailing ones are the best.

    Beautiful ship and excellent shot,

  • Thanks Ann, the festival was part of a Trans-Atlantic circuit by many ships, I think it started out in England. There was another one this year but I couldn’t get to it.

What a great mix of “old” technology and modern lines.
Beautiful ship well captured, George. :)

  • Thanks Stan, she was the star of the show that year, with a great crew and totally spic-and-span on board.

Beautiful capture Geroge!! I would love to see something like this in person!! Amazing experience!!

  • Hi Blair, thanks for your kind comment. I’ve always had a love for all kinds of ships and lucky enough to see quite a few of these big ones when I lived in Halifax and also on my yearly return visits. There was a big festival this summer but I couldn’t get down for it :(

Wonderful shot, George. Aren’t they just great! I remember them all coming up the St. Lawrence on the way to Toronto a number of years back. We could see them from work.

  • Thanks Mike, glad you liked it. Also glad to hear you saw them yourself, it really is quite an experience. Luckily there are still people who keep them going for training purposes. Hopefully that will continue for many more years.

Thanks, George. It was great seeing them sail up the St. Lawrence and it was back in 1984. Peter Babelowski did watercolours of some of them and issued a series of limited edition prints. I’m lucky to have 4 of them.

Good show Mike, I bet they’re very lovely. Anyone who paints sailing ships usually does a very good job. I looked up his website to see if I could get a look at them, but no luck. Quite a famous man..
