Artist's Description

“White-out” usually refers to a snowstorm or blizzard where visibility is reduced to zero. However, in my continual search for the best shots of thundering Atlantic Ocean surf, it was certain that I’d find my own white-out from towering spray. This afternoon at Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia, I was getting some good shots of the surf from an October storm. Getting as close to the edge of the cliffs as I thought was safe, I was looking the other way when I heard the crash and rumble, turned around, and managed to get this shot of little else but granite rocks and water! Oh yes, at the top you can see the dark clouds and water with the white-caps foaming on the crests of the waves. It gives you an idea of the height of the rock edge. Wish I could have had a person in the shot to get perspective, but there were no volunteers!
I was rather wet and the wind and spray pushed me backwards and I slid down the side of a sheer rock. but hey, the shot was in the camera and it was unscathed! I had a bleeding shin but everything can’t be perfect..lol!
