Cat In An Apple Tree by George Cousins

And I’m sure he wasn’t after the apple blossoms. In the summer of 1957 I was installing some equipment near Chatham,New Brunswick, Canada, and we stayed at a Bed and Breakfast at a charming old riverside farm. The cat became our adopted family for the month we were there. Chatham has now been amalgamated with Newcastle, which is on the other side of the Miramichi River, to form an integrated town called Miramichi, So if you happen to look on a map, don’t be confused by the apparent disappearance of two towns.
Taken with a 35mm.Exakta Varex SLR using Kodachrome film,ASA10, in 1957. Scanned in 2004 with a Canoscan 4000US scanner.

Beautiful black cat, and love the caputure of it with the blue sky and beautiful flowered tree.

  • Hi Wanda, and thank you for the lovely comment. I keep going back through my old scanned slides and there’s a few that I think would be interesting. This was one..:)

Great capture. Makes you wonder what caught the cat’s attention!

  • Thanks Mike! From that look in his eye, I’m assuming it was a bird, but I’m afraid it’s lost in the mists of time..and my!

Great mix of black and white in this

  • Thanks very much, I actually thought of trying a B/W conversion, but I thought the extra colour would be better. Maybe I’ll give it a go anyway :)
