Maybe not, but from the look on her face, he’s going to have a hard time convincing her! Especially since she’s in the midst of one of the biggest and most beautiful Rose Gardens in the entire world! This is a very tiny part of the world-famous Butcharts Gardens in Victoria, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Now over 100 years old and a National Historic Site of Canada, there is an Italian,Japanese,Mediteranean,Sunken and Rose Garden. This one has over 250 different species of Roses, and is the only section where the plants are labeled.
This little girl was quite enchanted with the pathways (if not the roses) and her little brother was trying to control her. As soon as I saw them, the title flashed through my mind and I grabbed the image. Seemed too good to miss!
Taken on July 12, 2009 with a Fuji S100FS camera.

Aw cute George and such a beautiful surrounding. I havent been there in ages but would love to get back soon : )

  • Good morning Sean, and thanks again! I guess it’s one of those “human interest” moments that come along once in awhile, I thought the two kids were just delightful! If you do get back this way,let us know, we’d be really happy to meet you.

this is wonderful George, the title is so cute to match the little couple, lol. Oh man, I wish I could see the Butchart gardens again, I wasn’t the avid photographer I am today, the last time I was there,,,,,must be 20 years now.

  • Hi Vickie..thank you! The title popped in my head as soon as I saw their expressions..lol.. the Gardens are certainly beautiful. We buy season passes so we can go in just for an afternoon or evening and wander around, have a picnic, whatever. The day I took this one, I also took 357 others, but my partner Jann ended up with 422! Can you imagine doing that with film? First time I was ever there back in 1983, I might have shot 10 or 15 images.Between us I think we shot over 100 species of rose, only 150 more to go..LOL! Cheers!

Beautiful shot, George. And you’re right about digital versus film!

  • Hi Mike, many thanks..yes, I remember how carefully I used to hoard every shot on film..lol..people say it made us better photographers in those days but I don’t think so..I’d rather take a slew of digitals and have a lot better chance of getting a few really good ones!
