Jann and I took a Sunday to go to Beacon Hill Park in the south end of Victoria, Vancouver Island. She wanted to paint, and I spent the time wandering around looking at flowers. I found this lovely group of Calla lilies, and loved the contrast between their white petals and the rich greens of the foliage.
Beacon Hill is a 200-acre park which is the largest one in the park system of the city of Victoria. It’s very easily reached from downtown by walking, or by means of taxi, bus, bike, scooter,or even a horse-drawn carriage. If you’re a visitor and enjoy nature, plan at least a full day, as the park is huge and it also borders the oceanfront where you can enjoy seascapes and possibly windsurfers, kite flying, and cruise ships.
