Taking this picture I was standing on Clover Point, a little peninsula on the oceanfront of Victoria, British Columbia (Vancouver Island). The ship, a freighter inbound from the Pacific, with a pilot boat coming up alongside, is in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and at the rear are the Olympic Mountains in the State of Washington, USA. The Strait separates Canada and the USA and provides access from the Pacific to the major city/ports of Vancouver and Seattle, along with many other places.
For anyone visiting Victoria,Clover Point is a very popular spot for sight-seeing, as well as flying kites, para-gliding, wind-surfing and just enjoying nature and the outdoors. It’s a bit of a walk from downtown, but easily accessed by public transit, bicycle, scooter, taxi and so on. The entire oceanfront is maintained as a series of walking trails, mostly paved, wide grassy areas and access to beaches.
The camera used was a FujiS100FS, and the date was May 27, 2009.
