Artist's Description

Capstick is at the northern tip of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. To get to it, you drive on the Cabot Trail through Cape Breton Highlands National Park, and where the Trail crosses the island from west coast to east coast, another road branches off to Cape North. Following that road brings you to the village of Bay St. Lawrence and just before entering it, one more road branches off to the west and follows along the coastline to Capstick and Meat Cove, which is the end of the road, literally. It’s a very rugged coastline with many headlands, small beaches, and scattered country homes built along the road between the Atlantic Ocean and the interior forest. This picture, taken in October 2006, shows the hardwood trees very near the peak of the autumn colours. Camera, Sony DSCF828.
