On top of MacKenzie Mountain on the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, October 2005, we came across a small group of moose grazing in a swampy area. They were a bit wary of us at first but by staying quiet and being patient, they gradually seemed to adopt the “Watchful waiting” attitude, long enough to get a few good shots. We didn’t push our luck! Cape Breton Island is part of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, on the east coast.

Thanks Teresa, we were about 30 feet from them, so we kept very quiet until they decided we were OK, then took a few shots and backed away very slowly.

Thanks Dotje, and she is the star. There was a bull farther back in the trees but there were two cows in a fairly open spot which made the shot possible. One was too hidden but this one was just perfect.
