In the North-West Territories of Canada, gassing up a plane often meant landing on a dirt airstrip and pumping fuel out of 45-gallon drums. This is what we were doing here, at Fort Simpson, in the summer of 1955. The Dakota (DC-3) was one of the planes I used to travel around the North setting up and servicing Shoran survey stations. Taken with an Exakta Varex 35mm. SLR, f 2.0 Biotar lens, Kodachrome ASA10 film. Scanned in 2004 at 4000dpi with a Canoscan 4000US scanner.
