Spring Medley by George Cousins

I know I should be able to name all of these blooms, but I can’t..sorry! I do know I liked their appearance and hope you will too. Taken in mid-March 2008 in Beacon Hill Park, in the south end of Victoria, British Columbia, the “City of Gardens”.
For anyone who visits here and wants a very easy day hike, it’s only a short walk, bus or carriage ride from downtown and you have acres of flowers, ponds and birds to enjoy, also right beside the ocean. There are no amenities in the park but just an easy walk along the perimeters will get you almost anything. Enjoy your visit!
Taken with a Fuji S100FS camera.

How gorgeous this is. I see Primroses, Tulips, the little while buttons are English Daisies. I will have to add this park to my list of places I would love to visit. You have captured this beautifully and it instantly became a favorite for me.

  • Marjorie, many thanks for the kind comments and for naming the flowers for me! It’s one step up the ladder of being able to know what I’m
posting! There’s a continuous high speed ferry link between Seattle and Victoria and we get a huge number of visitors from your area, so if you come over the park is only a short walk from where it docks. Or take one of the horse-drawn carriage rides and save the walking for the park! Oh, and thanks for the Favourite!

Great title for this shot, George.
The only thing I don’t like about it is that it was taken in MARCH !!! lol.

  • Thanks Stan, and my son in Halifax agrees with you! We’re a little late this year, the daffodils are coming out but they’re a bit behind schedule.

beautiful! cant wait to see my garden this spring

  • Thank you Maureen. I really enjoyed reading your bio. I have a dear friend who can relate to you so well, especially in your artistic endeavours. And I was just as much a restless spirit, only in other fields.Makes life more fun, doesn’t it?

I really like this arrangement George. It is very similar to a couple I took in Perth’s Kings Park back in the spring. Nice photo mate! Peter Incidentally I have a cousin lives in Sidney on Vancouver Island.

  • Thanks again Peter. I live only a few km from Sidney. Your cousin is on the east side of the Saanich Peninsula and I’m on the west side. My son and I had a business in Sidney since 1989, on Bevan Avenue, but we sold the building and he moved down Lochside Drive just outside the Town limits into North Saanich. I (laughingly) retired a couple of years ago, which is why I spent most of today running around Victoria delivering and picking up for him..LOL. The picture I posted of the big rhododendrun bush is Jim’s next door neighbour. I have software on my PC written by what used to be Diamond Labs. in Perth, but they are apparently out of business now. Too bad, as it was very good software. Small world indeed!
