In a sea of tulips, this one caught my eye. Maybe the colour, or the contrast with the other flowers, I’m not sure. Taken in Beacon Hill Park, south end of Victoria,British Columbia, Vancouver Island. Late April, 2008, taken with a Fuji S100FS camera, lens set at about 50mm.
Victoria is known as the “City of Gardens” and if you’d like a day hike, you can reach the very big park by walking, car, bus or horse-drawn carriages. There are no food facilities in the park but easily reached by a short walk outside the boundaries. It’s open all year and part of it faces the ocean and many walking trails along Dallas Road, a favourite for hikers, kiting, or just enjoying nature.

Wow lovely tulip is this right from the camera?? lovely colors and DOF

  • Thanks Rebecca. It was cropped very slightly to try to center the tulip a little better. I took about 10 shots before I got the DOF to look good enough. It was my first day with the Fuji camera and trying to get a feel for it.
