I promised I would show what was around the bend of the road in a previous post, so here is the neat old farmhouse on a rainy back road in Bear River, Nova Scotia, Canada, in October 2005. The hardwood forests are coming into full autumn colours and the rains are beating down quite hard this day.
Taken with a Sony DSCF828 camera.

Lovely George, nice and clear well framed nice color and angle good job!

  • Thanks Rebecca. It was raining so hard I turned the car across the road, hoped nobody would come around the bend behind me, and shot the picture through the open side window. And then moved quickly.lol!

This is an outstanding photograph of this lovely scene. I like the way the wet road leads toward the beautiful old red house and into the autumn foliage. Wonderful colors and composition.

  • Thank you Jane for your very kind and insightful comments. It’s very nice to get your perspective on the scene.

wonderful contrast between the red and green-I have spent some time at Amherst, Nova Scotia

  • Thanks Nora, glad you liked it. Hope you enjoyed the Amherst area, the Tantramar Marshes down the road toward New Brunswick can be a great place for unusual scenic views.

Terrific shot George and the whole scene is so alive! But I tell you what – I don’t think I would be too happy living in that house – it would be a miracle if it has never been hit by a car taking the bend too fast. That would be a sure fire accident waiting to happen on our roads! Regards, Peter

  • Glad you liked it Peter. The early settlers liked to build right on the side of the road. I would say that house is probably at least 100 years old and probably more. I grew up in one that was all of 10 feet from the front door to the pavement. Almost every house was like that.
