This tiny community at the south end of Nova Scotia, Canada, is affectionately known as the “Switzerland of Canada” because of the hills surrounding it. It’s also one of the oldest settlements, being a thriving community as far back as the late 1700’s. Today it’s a haven for artists and craftspeople, many of whom have come here and made it their home. One half of the village is in Digby County, the other half in Annapolis County, with the river dividing it. This was a misty day in autumn (October 5,2005) and taken with a Sony DSCF828 camera.

    Nice shot, George.
    Good description too.

  • Thanks Stan, it’s a pretty little place. My Dad sailed out of Bear River on a lumber schooner when he was 16.The river empties into the Atlantic about 2 miles from this spot.

    So beautiful

  • Thank very much Meeli, there had been a lot of rain and very mild weather, and that really brought out the fresh colours in the grass and foliage.
