July 14 2007, a heavy Atlantic summer fog at Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia, keeps everyone off the fishing boats and snug inside. Except, of course, people who like to get soaking wet in the heavy mist so they can get a picture of what the locals are avoiding. Sony DSCF828.

    This looks soooooo calm, George.
Looks like a good day to be moored too.

  • Thanks Stan. Too bad I can’t type. “Soaking set”? Must be something new..lol. I like wandering around the Cove in the fog, nice and quiet and not many people about.

Lovely shot George, I can almost feel the calmness here … and hear the gulls.

  • Thanks Bev, I never get tired of this place, keep going there year after year. Even at high tourist season, there’s always days like this that are very quiet and peaceful.

Our trips to Alaska will always live with me forever with little coastal spots like this. We’d park the RV next to the water and sit for ages just watching nature and the boats pass by, listening to the cry of the gulls and the chug of a fishing boat – oh I can hear it so clearly!!

  • What route did you take? You told me about RVing at Banff but didn’t know about Alaska. There’s very little road up the coast of BC, most of the way you have to go far inland. Unless you take a ferry or some other boat up the Insaide Passge. Wonderful scenery, no matter which route you take.

We flew in a couple of times to Anchorage, the first time we hired a car and stayed in motels and the next time we hired an RV there for a month in August on year and drove all over. The other three times we flew into Jaspar and picked up an RV there, usually in late March/April and did the Banff look then drove up the Alaskan Highway north. The rentals were one way and because it was the beginning of the season they threw in one week’s rental and 2,500 kms free. We then caught the ferry back down to Bellingham. We have loved every trip so far and would love to go back … one day.

  • That’s great. You’ve really seen a lot of this part of Canada. I traveled the Alaska Hwy back in the mid 50’s when it was not really a fun trip..lol. I’d love to do it again. Bit more comfortable now!

Very many thanks, Dave and Teresa. Especially glad to have one of the pics of my beloved Peggy’s Cove be one of the Top Ten. I’ve had a 50 year love affair with that place and I always manage to get back again. Same as you do, I think..lol!

    Beautiful place, so peaceful…

  • Thanks again and I am glad you enjoy the picture. It is a very peaceful place to just relax and be with nature.
