Artist's Description

A stretch of shoreline in the harbour of St. Pierre, a French island off the south coast of Newfoundland. The dories are used for fishing in the North Atlantic which surrounds the islands. The dories are hauled out of the water onto wooden ramps, using home-made windlasses as you see in the foreground. The islands are rugged and very rocky, with virtually no trees. Photo was taken in 1966 using a 35mm.Exakta Varex and high speed Ektachrome film, scanned at 4000dpi in 2004 with a CanoScan 4000US scanner.
