I’ve posted one shot of Castle Mountain, but this was another shot after waiting awhile for the sun to break through and strike the upper peaks and walls. Thought someone might like it. Banff National Park, Alberta, November 11, 2006

Magnificent image – this mountain is so incredibly beautiful. During trips to Canada I have sat with my mouth wide open at this incredible scenery.

A beautiful shot of some glorious country. Good of you to wait for some sunshine…it came out well and makes for a beautiful mountain shot.

One of my favorite mountains along there. I have a many shots of it but none are as great as this one. I have to go there in the winter.

  • Thanks very much. My very first post on RB was “Castle in the Clouds” which is the same mountain but taken a short while earlier, and from more distance. It was a cold blustery day and I waited for the wind to blow the clouds clear enough to get the peaks with the sun striking them. I also have some taken in the summer but I think the winter ones have more dramatic appeal.

And like it we did. Or at least I did. This is so grand a view. Fantastic

  • Many thanks, and really glad you liked it. In all the Rockies, this is my favourite mountain, probably because it’s a bit isolated and stands out so well from the forested hills.

Another Beauty George, this mountain always looks so awesome !!

  • Hi Sean, and thanks again. We just did a week wandering around the Rockies..and I now have a few more of Castle Mountain.Took your advice and used the Bow Valley Parkway. Made it to a lot of cherished spots like Maligne,Moraine,Athabaska Falls and a lot of others. Cloudy and rainy for a couple of days but that made some great moody skyscapes. I only took 460 shots, Jann took! It takes an artist to see more possibilities than an old fogey :)
