Saanich Peninsula
The Saanich Peninsula on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It extends north from the city of Victoria and ends at Swartz Bay, where the ferries leave for the mainland. The body of water is Saanich Inlet, and the hill at right centre is Mount Newton with the marine traffic control radar on top. The little boat is the car/passenger ferry that runs from the village of Brentwood Bay(off the picture to the right) and Mill Bay, more or less below where I was standing when I took this.
My house is in that patch of forest at the left edge of the photo, in a district called Ardmore, and the town of Sidney is just out of sight behind the lower slope of Mt. Newton. Off in the distance are the Gulf Islands of British Columbia and farther out are the San Juan Islands of Washington State. In between is the international boundary and the ship channel from Vancouver to the Pacific.

You lucky bugger George! What an amazing place you live, great photo, the reflections on the water is just too lovely!
George Cousins replied
Hi Adrian..I guess I have to agree with you, after being here 20 years..lol! It is a very beautiful place, and don’t have to go far to get a variety of photo shoots. Glad you liked the pic.
Mike Oxley
Have to agree with Adrian here, George. What a beautiful shot! Green with envy back here in The ‘Wall!
George Cousins replied
Thanks Mike, glad you liked it. But I think most places are beautiful in their own way, it’s what we make of them that matters. Though I have to say I don’t miss the snow and ice very much :)
Stan Wojtaszek
Takes your breath away, George ! :)
George Cousins replied
Thanks Stan, I appreciate your compliment on behalf of the peninsula! This was taken from up on the Malahat, a mountain ridge across the inlet from the peninsula.
