Memoriam

With Remembrance Day coming soon, I wanted to share this simple tribute to the Canadian men and women who gave their lives so that we could continue to live ours.
The memorial is on the western coast of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia,Canada,on the side of the Cabot Trail which encircles the northern part of the Island and contains Cape Breton Highlands National Park. It’s just a short distance from the hills and cliffs of Cap Rouge which is in the background picture. Every time I’ve gone home and once again went over the trail, I’ve stopped at this place and gave a “thank you” to those it commemorates. I hope you will, too, no matter where you are.

Sept. 10, 2008. Fuji S100FS camera,and some not-so-expert work in Photoshop.

A wondeful tribute. The words are so heartfelt. Very sad, but a beautiful remembrance. Great picture.

  • George Cousins replied

Hi Wanda, thanks for the kind words. There are so many big monuments, but I always felt this small tribute put up by local people in a beautiful setting was the one I thought had the most feeling.

Happy to share it,Mike. All the monuments count, but to me,the little ones put up by the little people always seem to be special.
