Annapolis Valey
The Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, Canada, is one of the most productive fruit and vegetable growing areas in the country. About 120 km. in length, it lies between two mountain ridges that run parallel to the Bay of Fundy.These ridges shelter it from the worst effects of ocean storms, and create a micro-climate which is relatively mild. The valley floor has deep layers of fertile glacial sedimentary soils, and the valley is especially famous for it’s apple crop.Historically, it was first settled around 1605, near the town of Annapolis Royal,and was gradually populated by Acadian settlers, until their expulsion at the end of the numerous French-English wars.

Thanks Sean..back in 1959-60 I lived almost at the half-way point along the valley length..I was working at Greenwood air base at the time. Loved it there!

Thanks Tori, yes, I’ve been from one end to the other and even spent 3 years in the Arctic regions back in the 1950’s. It has everything to offer, even deserts and sand dunes in parts of the west. I must post some of the desert country, but haven’t managed to get the dunes yet. Maybe next year,,lol!

What a view, George! Beautiful shot. We’ve got an area like this near here (St. Raphel’s) where you have the farmland, the St. Lawrence and the Adirondaks in New York all in the scene. Have to get a shot one day…...

Thanks Mike, I lived and worked right in the heart of the Valley, at Greenwood air base, and loved every minute. One of my “must visit again” places every time I go back. That scene you mention would look great, I’m sure. You’ll have to make the trek..lol!

Wonderful view. It brings back memories. I was stationed at CFB Greenwood from 1982 -1985. Someday I’ve got to go back to visit.

Thanks for dropping by. I was at Greenwood in 1961-63. I worked for General Electric and I was tech rep on the Argus radar and some other gear. We lived at Wilmot, just over the line in Annapolis County.
Being a bluenoser anyway, I loved it there :)
