Braving the Storm

Braving the Storm

This couple were intent on getting as close as they safely could to the edge of the rock ledges at Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada, during a building Atlantic Ocean storm. The rocks are millions of years old and withstood the passage of the glaciers in the last Ice Age, about 10,000 years ago. These winds were moderate, but still enough to create heavy surf and bursting spray along the coastline. Peggy’s Cove is a little fishing village about 30 miles south of Halifax, permanent population about 50, but host to millions of visitors over the years. One of the most popular tourist destinations in Canada, with dozens of photo opportunities and spectacular changes of weather to suit anyone’s tastes.

Hi Sean, I followed this couple all over the place, we were looking for the same views I guess! I can never resist going to the ocean in a storm, you can’t get closer to nature than that :)

Hi Peter, good to see you again. I’ve been having problems with the new uploader so falling behind a bit.No, I’m not surprised at all..lol! We seek out the same sort of scenes, and it’s great to be able to compare notes and shots. Many thanks for the kind words! Cheers, George

    Good shot, George !
Makes you wonder what kind of shots the guy with the camera got. :)

  • George Cousins replied

I think the one he was taking then would have had a lot of white in it! We chased each other around the rocks for at least an hour that day. They managed to get a bit wet several times..lol!
