now…at this time
i remember him…
abandoned to predatory shadow
betrayed onto path of
pain…of final darkness
he took the cup of suffering
alone…those he called friends
passed by on the other side…
they so often do…
deepening darkness
obscuring drops of blood
you perspired to the ground…
they came for you…
final betrayal…a kiss…
it often is…you move
to a cross barren as
a winter tree…
now…the final cold
penetrates secret
places of the person
like an open wound…

This is very deep my friend. This is a time to remember all that he sacrificed for us: of how he unselfishly shed his precious blood so that we will have the opportunity to embrace everlasting life. Many take this time to reflect and others to make this into a money making business. Thanks for reminding us that this is time for reflection.

  • Thankyou Iris and yes, I quite agree that this is a time for quiet reflection as to what this time of year is really all about

Outstanding, George, very poignant, like the old song “I walked today where Jesus walked…” touches a chord deep inside. He Is Risen, He Is Risen Indeed!

  • Thankyou, its good to hear from you

Beautiful write, George—Gethsemane is often overlooked, as is Palm Sunday. But the last 7 days of Jesus on Earth was profound through and through, beginning to last. I’m so glad I read this, George. Thank you for writing it.

  • Thankyou for your kind and touching comment, yes I agree that Gethsemane is often overlooked
