The Jindabyne Dam wall holds back the Snowy River. Here a dam wall is also a bridge. The bridge crosses where new ‘fuse gates’ have been installed to save the dam in the event of a massive flood event or failure of the dam further upstream.
The Architectural concrete in the foreground actually forms the fuse gates. These 8×400 tonne monsters can float and will save the dam from total failure if needed. The bridge is in the background.
