Thank you Neal. There was a very nice light there that afternoon as the sun broke through heavy cloud cover. They built a railway through the Dale in the 1860’s, tunneling their way through many obstacles and bridging the river Wye. Closed since 1968 the old trackbed is now used as a very popular cycleway and footpath called the Monsal Trail. My other image of the Dale shows the view to the left of this one where you can see the viaduct which carries the railway over the river after emerging from a tunnel through the hillside.
