Winnipeg Manitoba Canada
Where the Red River and the Assiniboine River meet it is called the Forks.
It has been a meeting place for what is believed to be thousands of years.
Last year and again this year Winnipeg created the “The World’s Longest Skating Rink” beating out Ottawa for the Guinness title. This year the Red River could not be used due to “Frazzle Ice”.
A few days later I returned and captured a daytime shot of the Skate Hut
If you keep going West down the Assiniboine River you gets some wonderful views
A few more kms further west you get to Route 90

Awsome night capture Geoffrey. I COMMEND you on this one, inst fav…I will predict a feature real soon…Way to go
Thanks Larry. Last night/this morning was a great time to be out shooting :)

Absolutely incredible shot Geoffrey. I agree with Larry and see the feature in this photo future.
Thanks Teresa :) it was one of those choices I’ve been forcing myself to fully explore an area before calling it a night. I had gone down the river walk, across the QEW bridge, up to the Via Rail station, I had some shots from around the Market buildings. But I continued on and across the converted pedestrian bridge to get this shot.

So beautiful.
I remember the ice festivals at Ottawa, great fun.
j
Ottawa had the record of the world record up to last year. They have a much more polished Rideau Canel and usually better skating weather :)

Beautiful place…cool contest too for the longest rink!! :)
Last year’s was 8.4 kilometers long, (5.22 miles) this year is reported to be a bit longer.

Great picture Geoffrey! You make Winnipeg look magical. Not that it isn’t magical anyway. Thanks!
Thanks, sometimes one gets some weird looks when you are out when everyone else just wants to be indoors.
