Ice Fog
The night of March 8 2008.
I had gone to try to capture the Northern Lights. I had travelled about a half hour north of the city but the lights lacked luster.
While traveling back home I came upon this fog bank.
I parked my car on the shoulder of the highway. Crossed the highway.
Waded in knee-to-waist-deep snow until I could get my d300 and tripod setup on the median.
The black at the base of the picture is the asphalt from the two lanes of the highway heading north.

It was one of those days where I didn’t really feel like going out and shooting. I had gone to shoot the Northern Lights outside of town but they where rather disappointing. On the way back down the highway I saw that through my rear view mirror so I pulled off the highway, got my camera (tripod et al.) and waded throught the snow that was the median and shot a few different versions of this.

It was one of those times where you come see the image and hoped it was captured correctly. There was a couple of shots of the fog that night that by the time I had setup the fog banks had been destroyed.
